What do traditional Irish fiddling, free improv / contemporary jazz, and indie pop have in common? Not much, which is what keeps Elise interested. A youth spent immersed in Irish trad left its mark in the form of a lilt that remains audible throughout her explorations of modern music, and in her own gleefully outfield, Nordic-influenced “imaginary folktunes”.
Appearing on recent releases by Joel Battle, O'Mally, La La Boom Boom and Fish & Bird, Elise also co-leads Breakfast Trio, an exciting and peculiar young violin/guitar/drums outfit. And under the hot August sun of 2009, Elise recorded her debut solo EP Sliver, a blend of crystalline originals and folk tunes from northern parts.
Currently a jazz violin student at VCC, Elise is expanding her musical horizons one string at a time, as 5-string violin and banjo have joined her arsenal.
